DISC INJURIES

Disc Injury, Disc Herniation, & Discogenic Low Back Pain

Another common condition Dr. Yap sees and treats often in our Victoria Chiropractic Clinic is lower back pain that is caused by the intervertebral discs. According to current research and statistical data, a large majority nearing 80% of severe lower back pain is due to an intervertebral disc lesion.

A common complaint is lower back pain and sciatica. In some cases, the lower back pain can progress into radiating pain to the buttock region and down the thigh to the toes. It can present initially as sharp stabbing pain, a jolt of electricity down the leg, lower back stiffness in the morning and at night, numbness or tingling or weakness. These conditions are treatable without the need for surgery. In some severe cases, a surgical consult may be warranted.

If you are experiencing any of the above causes of disc pain, Dr. Yap would love to help you find the root cause and get you back out into the world again!
