KNEE PAIN

Knee Pain

Chiropractic care can be extremely beneficial for problems involving the knee joint. In our experience, knee pain is commonly due to factors outside of the knee joint like the hip and ankle. Research suggests that thorough clinical examination is generally very good at ruling out various knee pathologies, including internal derangement conditions.

Dr. Yap believes that the cause of knee pain can fall into a very broad category of conditions in the absence of trauma to the structures of the knee itself. The location of your knee pain can be very helpful in making an accurate diagnosis.

Depending on the diagnosis, he will work together with our patients to build a safe and concise treatment plan that targets both the direct and indirect causes, leading to knee pain relief and to prevent it from coming back.

The knee joint is one of the more complex regions of the body and therefore requires proper and accurate diagnoses to help alleviate pain and allow you to fully optimize your knee health and competence.

Here are some of the common diagnoses related to the cause of your knee pain:

  • Knee contusions or blows to the knee

  • Knee dislocations or patellar dislocations

  • Patellofemoral pain syndrome (Jumper’s knee)

  • Chondromalacia Patellae (Runner’s knee)

  • Quadriceps tendinopathy

  • Hamstring tendinopathy

  • Muscular strains/sprains

  • Referred pain from the hip, sacroiliac joints, or lumbar spine

  • Bursitis

  • Stress fractures

  • Meniscus tears or sprains

  • Gastrocnemius tendinopathy

  • Baker’s Cyst

  • Cruciate ligament tears (ACL, PCL, MCL, LCL)
