SHOULDER PAIN

Shoulder Pain & Shoulder Impingement

Chiropractic care can be extremely beneficial for problems involving the shoulder. In our experience, shoulder pain is most commonly due to the rotator cuff muscles or the shoulder joint (glenohumeral joint) itself. A proper examination and evaluation of the shoulder joint, neck and its global movements will help Dr. Yap determine the root cause of your shoulder pain.

Dr. Yap believes that shoulder impingement is one of the most common shoulder complaints and that it is NOT a primary diagnosis but rather a result of an underlying disorder.

Depending on the diagnosis, Dr. Yap will work together with our patients to build a safe and concise treatment plan that targets both the direct and indirect causes, leading to shoulder pain relief and preventing it from coming back.

The shoulder joint is one of the more complex regions of the body and therefore requires proper and accurate diagnoses to help alleviate pain and allow you to fully optimize your shoulder health and competence.

Here are some of the common diagnoses related to the cause of your shoulder pain:

  • Full tear or partial tear of your rotator cuff

  • Rotator cuff tendinopathy

  • Post-surgical rehabilitation

  • Biceps tendinopathy

  • Acromioclavicular (AC) joint or Sternoclavicular (SC) joint separation

  • Subacromial bursitis

  • Adhesive capsulitis or Frozen Shoulder

  • Labral tear (SLAP lesion or Bankart lesion)

  • Referred pain from a cervical disc injury or cervical disc herniation

  • Thoracic outlet syndrome

  • Cervical canal/foramen stenosis

  • Whiplash injuries from sports trauma or Motor Vehicle Incident

If you are experiencing any of the above causes of shoulder pain, Dr. Yap would love to help you find the root cause and get you back out into the world again!
